Study abroad students in Italy gather to watch the Super Bowl
SHOWING UP. I’M MICHAEL YOSHIDA REPORTING. OF COURSE IT WAS A HUGE WEEKEND FOR SPORTS FANS. YOU HAD THE SUPER BOWL AND THE FIRST FEW DAYS OF THE WINTER OLYMPICS. THIS IS A NEAT STORY. SOME EXCHANGE STUDENTS FROM THE U.S. STUDYING IN ITALY WATCHED THE SUPER BOWL LAST NIGHT IN MILAN, WITH THE TIME DIFFERENCE. THEY DIDN’T START WATCHING THE GAME UNTIL WELL AFTER MIDNIGHT. THE FOOTBALL FANATICS SAY IT WAS TOTALLY WORTH IT, INCLUDING ONE STUDENT FROM UNC CHAPEL HILL. TO US, THIS IS SUPER BOWL MONDAY INSTEAD OF SUPER BOWL SUNDAY, SO IT DID HAVE AN IMPACT, BUT I THINK WE ALL JUST WANTED TO BE ABLE TO EXPERIENCE SOME OF HOME TOGETHER IN THIS NEW PLACE. It was a major weekend for sports fans with the Super Bowl and Winter Olympics.In Milan, some United States exchange students were able to watch the Super Bowl in Italy. One of the viewers was a student from UNC Chapel Hill. With the time difference, the students didn’t start watching the game until after midnight, but they said it was all worth it.”To us, this is Super Bowl Monday instead of Super Bowl Sunday, so it did have an impact,” said Hope Martin. “I think we all just wanted to be able to experience some of home together in this new place.” The students also said they were surprised by how easy it was to find places to watch the big game in another country.TRENDING STORIES:
