Troy University to showcase student, faculty research during inaugural Trojan Research Week

Troy University will highlight the research of students and faculty within its five colleges during the inaugural Trojan Research Week, April 21-25.
The week will begin with a kickoff event at 9 a.m. on April 21 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor, presented by the Office of Sponsored Programs. Dr. Jack Hawkins, Jr., Chancellor, will provide comments during the kickoff event.
Dr. Kerry Palmer, Senior Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, said Trojan Research Week provided an opportunity to celebrate and recognize the great work being done by TROY students and faculty.
“Trojan Research Week provides an excellent opportunity to showcase the remarkable research being done by our students and faculty,” Dr. Palmer said. “As evidenced by our recent designation as a Carnegie Research University, Troy University is committed to enhancing and expanding our research capabilities. Trojan Research Week not only serves to celebrate the work that is currently being done but also represents an important step as we seek to encourage the further advancement of research and innovation at Troy University.”
The College of Communication and Fine Arts will be the first college to celebrate student research from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on April 21, covering the fields of Art and Design, English, Journalism and Communication, Music, Theatre and Dance and World Language and Cultures. Presentations will take place in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor and the Lamar P. Higgins Ballrooms on the second floor of the Trojan Center.
The Sorrell College of Business will host its Student Research Showcase on April 22. The Showcase begins that morning with the Hospitality, Sport, and Tourism Management Senior Summit in the ballrooms. That afternoon, students from all disciplines across Sorrell College will present research projects (class projects, term papers, experiential learning, etc.) to faculty and staff during a poster session in Lewis Hall.
The College of Health Sciences will present the inaugural Interdisciplinary Applied Health Sciences Student Research Symposium in Jones Hall at 10 a.m. on April 23. The Interdisciplinary Applied Health Sciences Student Research Symposium will showcase innovative research conducted by students in Exercise Physiology, Health Promotion, Nursing, and Social Work. This symposium will feature a diverse range of projects, from critical literature reviews to data-driven studies, highlighting the breadth of student scholarship in health-related fields.
The College of Arts and Sciences is hosting a 1-day conference showcasing undergraduate and graduate research within the college on April 24 in the Hawkins-Adams-Long Hall of Honor. This conference will feature presentations and posters by undergraduate and graduate students in the college.
The College of Education will host the Troy University Psychology Conference on April 25 in Hawkins Hall. Undergraduates, graduate students, faculty members, and other professionals will present research on a wide variety of topics in psychology and related disciplines. Past conferences have included such diverse topics as marketing, education, counseling, music and criminal justice.
